E. D. (Chip) Bessey III, Secretary

Secretary Earle D. “Chip” Bessey III was raised in Waterville, Maine in a family that has been involved in farming and the timber industry in Maine for many generations. In 1978 he returned to Maine to work in E.D. Bessey & Son, a family company which he now owns. The Company is a multi-faceted business which owns and manages woodland for timber products, buys pulpwood for many pulp and paper mills in Maine, buys and markets sawlogs and high quality veneer logs from concentration yards in Maine and New Hampshire, and grows Christmas trees.

He is a past Director and past President of the Maine Forest Products Council, and was Chair of the Maine TREE Foundation, and Chair of the Northeast Division of the Forest Resources Association. Chip has been a licensed forester in the State of Maine since 1980.
