RINES WETLANDS & WILDLIFE PRESERVE

This birding-friendly property was acquired in March 2016 from Jackie Ingraham and Linda Berry, to honor their family's love of nature and wildlife.  Situated between 25 Mile Stream and Fowler Bog, the Rines Wetlands & Wildlife Preserve helps to create a nearly complete 1500-acre corridor of permanently conserved land in Unity.  Project support has been provided by SRLT volunteers and members, The Nature Conservancy in Maine and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

This location provides a unique opportunity to experience the Unity Wetlands without getting your feet wet.  It hosts a great diversity of birds and the longest list of reptiles and amphibians of any of our preserves.

Directions from downtown Unity to the Rines Preserve are below:

Head west on Route 139.  The property is located on the south side of the road approx. 2.3 miles west of Main Street.  There is a gravel lot to park.
