About The Event
Open landscapes support various vulnerable species in Maine, the most forested state in the US. Raptors can be used as excellent indicator and umbrella species for the conservation and management of these open habitats. We will discuss a few of these, but focus on the American Kestrel, Maine's smallest falcon species. We will learn about kestrel biology, their habitats, their status in Maine, and introduce a new community science project run by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife and several partners.
