About The Event

Hands-On Learning • Community Action • Environmental Restoration

Healthy shorelines protect water quality, reduce sediment runoff, and create habitat for fish and wildlife. By planting native vegetation, we strengthen our rivers, lakes, and communities.

SRLT is partnering with Waldo County Soil and Water Conservation Distirct, Maine Forest Service, and other regional organizations to teach and promote live stake harvesting and planting to restore streamside habitat. Live staking uses dormant cuttings from native trees and shrubs that root quickly and stabilize soil — a simple, effective restoration technique you can use at home or in your community.

What to Expect:

  • Learn how live stakes reduce erosion and improve habitat and water quality

  • Guidance from Maine Forest Service District Foresters, Allyssa Gregory and Jared Gregory
