About The Event
From the very early 1800’s right up until the Twentieth Century, Freedom Maine was home to numerous successful endeavors utilizing the seemingly diminutive, but ever steady, flow of the Sandy Stream. Dozens of mills and businesses have laid claim to portions of this mill privilege over the centuries, and some of that important heritage is now owned by the very people of Freedom itself. Come join us for a brief recap of the history of this otherwise forgotten chunk of our past, and thoughts on the future potential of this important piece of our shared history. Presenter Sean Murphy grew up regularly seeing the old mills that powered the Industrial Revolution in northeastern Massachusetts.
