About The Event
Join SRLT in an exploration of a beautiful section of the Sebasticook River in Pittsfield on Saturday, June 22, followed by gathering at the Outland Farm Brewery located in downtown Pittsfield at 113 North Lancey St. where you can buy and enjoy a locally sourced farm-to-table meal and/or drink. We will put in at the boat launch at Peltoma Bridge on the Horseback Road in Pittsfield and at 10AM paddle downriver toward Burnham to the Haseltine Landing (just upriver from the Elweir Bridge), take a short break and then head back. We may make a few detours to visit the seaplane canal and Farnham Brook on the way, all the while keeping an eye out for birds and signs of other wildlife. Led by Pittsfield resident Bill Cunningham and SRLT Executive Director Cheryl Daigle. Participants should have a basic knowledge of steering their watercraft in currents on flatwater and be physically fit enough to feel comfortable paddling for approximately 3 hours. No bathrooms along the way, just the woods. Participants need to provide their own watercraft, paddles, and life preservers. Bring water, adequate clothing and a snack. Please practice carry in, carry out. Raindate: Sunday, June 23.
