About The Event
Join SRLT to explore the beautiful series of vernal pools at Freedom Forest Preserve, one of our Forever Wild Preserves. We will look for egg masses and larvae of the spotted salamander and wood frog - vernal-pool dependent amphibians that migrate during rainy nights in early spring to breed in these temporary but highly significant wetland habitats. We will also check out our new side loop trail that we built last year and seek out other signs of spring awakening!
Directions to Freedom Forest Preserve, Freedom from Unity center:
Travel south on Route 202 toward Albion then go 6.3 miles and turn left on to Route 137. Travel 4.1 miles and turn right on to North Palermo Rd. Drive another 4 miles until you see a Sebasticook Regional Land Trust sign on the right, one mile past the intersection with Greeley and Albion Roads.
