GREAT FARM BROOK PRESERVE

Great Farm Brook Preserve offers 56 acres of managed woods along the Brook, conserved in association with Central Maine Power's Maine Power Reliability Program.  A woods road bisects the property.  There are also several side loops.  Be on the lookout for the resident beavers who have built a dam across the original access road.   You will also find a high value vernal pool a bit more than halfway down the main trail at a short spur trail.

 

Winter users should stay alert for snowmobiles, which are allowed on the access road.

 

Directions from Unity to Great Farm Brook Preserve in Jackson:

​

Travel north on Route 202 9 miles.  At the blinking light (Dixmont Corner Store), turn right on to Route 7.
Travel 5.4 miles.  At the bottom of a hill, turn left at the old church on to Village Road.
Travel approx. 1 mile, and the gated entrance will be on the right. (If you cross the stream or see
the Jackson community building, you have gone too far.)
Parking is on the road shoulder or in front of gate.
